From the family behind the award-winning Peju Province Winery in Napa Valley comes Liana Estates, an experience-focused winery opening October 1 in Carneros, California. This brand new winery immerses visitors in its selection of high-quality wines and bubbly with a number of unique experiences that encourage use of the five senses and provide an intimate connection to the breathtaking scenery of Napa Valley and San Pablo Bay.
The passion project of sisters Ariana and Lisa Peju (pictured), who grew up surrounded by their family’s successful and award-winning Peju winery, Liana Estates blends the sisters’ creative vision as well as their names. “Our family’s winery has been a huge part of our lives since we were kids, and it inspired us to create our own concept that reflects our love for fine wine while also incorporating creative programming to provide a completely new wine experience,” says Lisa.
Drawing inspiration from its surroundings, Liana Estates offers natural and sustainable experiences including culinary classes, interactive workshops, and wellness activities that stimulate the senses – all paired with their ever-changing selection of wines including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, unique varietals, and sparkling.
Led by Bay Area-based Lauren Pique Designs, Liana Estates’ industrial and natural aesthetic captures the beauty of the outdoors in a modern, fresh indoor space featuring elements of land, air, and sea. In the spirit of creating something that begins in the field and ends in a glass, the first floor tasting room flanks the production area. Open views offer guests the opportunity to be a part of the process from start to finish. Design touches reflect the textures and elements of the land such as rusted metal bar carts, a leather banquette, large concrete tile, metal bistro tables, blown glass light fixtures, a rollup garage door, and walls made with reclaimed wood from the Peju family’s Pope Valley property.
A mercantile store near the entrance features fruits, fresh produce, flowers, culinary provisions, and private label olive oil. The nature-inspired design continues on the second and third floors, each boasting dramatic panoramic views of the San Pablo Bay. The private tasting room on the second floor – the Wine Club Lounge – features a porch with modern comfort in mind. A fireplace and modular furniture accent the tasting bar. The Wine Club Lounge offers private concierge services and culinary bites from the kitchen. The third floor loft features earthy concrete tile and metal details and a succulent wall that mirrors the colors of the landscape.
