Sit. Stay. Come. Nothing beats canine companionship. And even pets need a vacation now and then. Take your furry friend along to one of these pet friendly hotels, and watch his tail wag with delight. From organic dog treats to fluffy beds, these Bay Area spots roll out the red carpet for four-legged guests. Ready. Set. Go.

 Nick's Cove, Marshall

Overlooking beautiful Tomales Bay on Highway One,  Nick’s Cove welcomes pets in their rustically elegant cottages surrounded by tranquil waters, sandy ecological beaches, abundant wildlife and views of the rolling hills. Each cabin is equipped with dog towels to keep paws pretty, freshly baked treats, water bowls, and plenty of hugs from the the dog-loving staff. While you sample oysters harvested from nearby farms on the restaurant's dining deck, your dog can relax and soak up the sun. Just a half hour west of Petaluma, this cedar and eucalyptus scented locale is the perfect place for a nearby retreat on the water.

Enchanté Boutique Hotel, Los Altos

The French chateau-inspired Enchanté Boutique Hotel is probably the most elegant pet-friendly hotel in the Bay Area. Francophile owner and dog lover Abigail Ahrens spared no expense in planning, designing, and decorating this plush South Bay gem where pups get as warm a welcome as their owners. Ahrens’ two dogs act as “canine concierges,” greeting furry guests with homemade organic biscuits, filtered water bowls, and perfectly-sized pet beds.

Treat your little love to 'pawdicures' at the neighboring dog spa, Barking Lot, or keep it simple and stroll around Los Altos Village Park. A popular spot with locals, the hotel's bistro, Campagne One Main, offers delicious French-American fare on the dog-friendly patio.

Inn at the Presidio, San Francisco

Located in what was once an elegant home for bachelor officers when the Presidio was a U.S. Army post, the 22-room Inn at the Presidio features spacious accomodations, including 17 high-ceilinged, posh suites with gas fireplaces. Surrounded by groves of fragrant eucalyptus on one side, panoramic Bay and Golden Gate Bridge views on the other, plus nearly 25 miles of walking paths, a stay at the Inn is a doggie’s dream. Enjoy a glass of complimentary evening wine on the veranda or in a comfortable adirondack around the back patio’s large fire pit. The Inn offers dog beds, water and food bowls, and special treats. Brunch or dinner at nearby Presidio Social Club is a must.
