ILLUMINATING PUBLIC ART

May 17, 2019 11:06AM ● By Pam Kessler

While we may occasionally bemoan the changing landscape of Walnut Creek, the new developments do have their advantages, including making the city more interesting with pieces of eye-popping public art. At the Lyric Apartments, Artist Jason Middlebrook created a dynamic abstract mosaic mural, measuring 15-feet high by 35-feet wide, from hundreds of hand-cut glass and ceramic tiles. Jets shoot graceful arcs of water across the surface enthralling little kids, while others take advantage of the illuminating backdrop for Instagram pics. Visitors to the public plaza find tables and chairs for relaxing and enjoying the sun and sky reflecting off the mosaic wall. Locust Street near Bonanza.
