The Lunar New Year Festival on Fourth Street is a free family-friendly event that celebrates Chinese New Year. 2017 is the year of the rooster on the Lunar calendar and to celebrate, Fourth Street will be hosting a parade, martial arts demonstrations, a Lion Dance by the famous performers at Kei Lun, candy giveaways, and more! Sponsored by Teance Fine Teas and Fourth Street shops, the Lunar New Year Festival has been taking place for nine years in a row and brings together kids and families from around the Bay Area. During the festival, Market Hall Foods on Fourth Street will be serving $5 Asian Chicken Sandwiches on the patio with drinks, snacks and candy for kids, and the bakery will be serving a Tangerine Sesame Tea Cake. Also during the celebration, Stained Glass Garden on Fourth Street invites the public to take part in a rooster community mosaic project. The finished artwork will be donated to the Berkeley Arts Magnet School. The Lunar New Year Festival takes place on Saturday, February 4 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Delaware at Fourth Street, in front of Sur La Table and Fourth Street Flower Stand.
