Help us fight cancer at Relay For Life of Concord and Walnut Creek

June 24, 2017

The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Concord and Walnut Creek will take place on Saturday, June 24 beginning 11:00AM at Ygnacio Valley Park (901 Oak Grove Rd. Concord). Relay For Life is a community event where teams and individuals camp out and take turns walking or running around a path for 12 hours, symbolizing the battle waged around the clock by those facing cancer. Teams of friends, coworkers and families also raise funds and awareness at the event by setting up booths with food and items for sale, games, raffles and more. The opening ceremony, which includes a special Survivors and Caregivers Lap, will begin at 11:00AM. Family friendly activities, entertainment, food and more will be happening throughout the day. Some activities include a K-9 demo from Concord Police department, 2 live bands, belly dancing lesson, minute to win it competition and more. A Luminaria Ceremony to honor cancer survivors and remember those lost to cancer will take place at 9:00PM. This event is free and open to the public.
