  • County Recorder’s Office (555 Escobar Street)
  • Martinez Public Library (740 Court Street)

ABOUT THE EVENT: The Martinez Historical Society and the Contra Costa County Historical Society are co-hosting the first ever Martinez Archives Crawl in celebration of American Archives Month.

Attendees or “Crawlers” tour among four host archives in Martinez, gathering stamps in their passports as they learn to research, find cool things found only in an archive, visit with archivists, and go on special behind-the-scenes tours.

Each archive is open to raise awareness about local resources and give you the opportunity to talk to local archivists about your interests and questions about research. You can get a taste of what is possible so you can plan future research visits.

All locations are within walking distance from one another, making this an easy and fun day for all ages!

The Scavenger Hunt:  The Crawl will be offering a scavenger hunt for students grades K-6 and 7-12 as well as adults. Scavenger hunt participants will answer archive and history related questions for their age group at each location. Each participant with the correct answers will be entered into a drawing with a chance to win an i-Pad or i-Pad Mini.
