Diablo Symphony Orchestra Opens Season with concert featuring Stephen Zielinski, Clarinetist

Concert to feature works by Debussy, Copland, Boulanger, Honneger and Faure

The Diablo Symphony opens its 56th season On Oct 14 with a concert celebrating the impact French sisters Lili and Nadia Boulanger had on the twentieth century musical world. The program includes Debussy’s “Premiere Rhapsodie” for clarinet and orchestra, with guest soloist Stephen Zeilinski, well known Bay Area clarinetist. Four dances from Copland’s Rodeo, Faure’s Pavanne and works by Lili Boulanger and Honneger round out the program. Tickets for adults, youth and children are available at the Lesher Center Box office or on-line at https://www.diablosymphony.org/events/lili-boulanger-and-her-world-2/ (children 12 and under are free but need a ticket). The 2018-19 season, “In And Out Of This World!”, features many works that reflect the natural world, including Aida Shizari’s new composition inspired by an encounter with a snowy egret and Beethoven’s “Pastoral Symphony”. We will also travel afar with Holst’s “The Planets”. In Dec, the orchestra will provide the Howard Blake’s soundtrack during special showings of the classic silent movie “The Snowman”. And April’s Family Concert focusing on dance will be presented in collaboration with the Diablo Ballet. Season tickets are now available through the Lesher Arts Center box office or on-line at http://www.diablosymphony.org/buy-tickets/2018-19-concert-season/ (by following link at the bottom of the page) or at https://lesherartscenter.showare.com/BundlePurchase_Qty.asp?BundleID=268 Tickets may also be purchased for individual concerts prior to their respective performance dates.
