LIVE! from the Library Event

In Conversation with Chaithanya Sohan, Author of "America Deconstructed."

Chaithanya Sohan is a first-time author of America Deconstructed, a new collection of Bay Area immigrant stories. She will meet with LIVE! from the Library’s moderator to discuss her new work.

When Chaithanya Sohan learned her stepfather’s new job would move her family from India to Silicon Valley, she was devastated. On the verge of graduating from high school, she was forced to suddenly leave her grandparents, school, and friends for a baffling new way of life. Years later, she’s a successful electronic engineer, living with her husband and young daughter in the East Bay. She tells the story of her journey, along with those of sixteen other Bay Area immigrants in a new book, America, Deconstructed, which she co-wrote with her best friend, Shaima Adin, whose family eventually landed here after it fled Afghanistan after Russia invaded it in 1979.

LIVE! from the Library, produced by the Walnut Creek Library Foundation, features free public lectures, literary events, and cultural programs at the Walnut Creek and Ygnacio Valley libraries. Program sponsors are the East Bay Times, Friends of the Walnut Creek Library, and Minuteman Press Lafayette.
