Spring 2020

Ms. Barnes is a highly skilled educator having taught and developed curriculum for ages pre-school through adult over the course of her professional career. As Executive Director of Kids’ Turn, San Francisco (2000 – 2013), she conducted trainings, workshops, group facilitations and presentations nationally and internationally. She was the lead Kids’ Turn trainer in London for British practitioners in 2011 when the Kids’ Turn curriculum, which she authored, was implemented throughout England. She is the accomplished author of I’m Still Your Grandma, I’m Still Your Grandma, published in Kindle edition, October, 2016. The book is a readable, accessible handbook for contemporary grandparents who are navigating family life when divorce or separation occurs. Ms. Barnes is a consultant to the Suzie S. Thorn Family Foundation (San Francisco) and serves on the Board of the International Commission on Couples and Family Relations. She was a member of the San Francisco Symphony Board of Governors for seven years. She has a Master’s Degree in Education and an equivalent second Master’s Degree in Guidance Counseling. She is a wife, mother and grandmother; and she loves classical music. Finding the life balance between her two passions – music and helping families through education– has been the focus of her adult life. (www.myfavoriteteachersf.com)
