Sunnyvale’s new TETRA Hotel is adjacent to a Google campus, meaning its 186 rooms are filled during the work week with visiting innovators and tech wizards. Both the hotel’s lobby restaurant Adrestia and whisky bar Nokori cater to the sophisticated tastes of those diligently working to further improve our access to internet information. But on the weekends, TETRA, an Autograph Collection hotel, in conjunction with sister property AC Hotel by Marriott Sunnyvale Moffett Park, becomes a leisure hub where pampered guests are encouraged to disconnect.
With its state-of-art fitness room (featuring Peloton bikes), third floor swimming pool lined with chaise lounges, and plant-filled indoor/outdoor Nexus breezeway, TETRA is an ideal and inclusive R&R staycation spot. Imagined by renowned designer Gabellini Sheppard (Rainbow Room, Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Center, the Istanbul EDITION Hotel), who followed the Autograph Collection edict of Exactly Like Nothing Else, TETRA’s sleek design is elevated, yet approachable and understated, featuring intentional technological touches and organic elements to create an environment of refined tranquility and balance. Guest rooms feature luxe bedding, Dyson hairdryers, and Evian water. Southwest facing rooms offer sunset views over the Santa Cruz mountains.
And though your cozy environ might encourage hibernation, TETRA’s food and beverage options will surely lure you out of that comfy room. Nokori, the hotel’s inviting Japanese whisky bar, features a line-up of hard-to-find options, as well as a unique Suntory highball machine that dispenses the cocktail in a perfect whisky-to-soda ratio. Enjoy your highball with snacks such as Pork Belly Kakuni Bao Buns, Shishito Peppers, and Crispy Sesame Shrimp while lounging on the low slung banquettes that line one wall. After your Japanese aperitivo, wander around the lobby corner to warm and inviting Adrestia, where Chef Hideki Myo offers an eclectic California menu featuring Asian influences, such as his Grilled Lobster Sando with milk bread, miso aioli, furikake, and togarashi cheese, and his Cold Smoked Beef Carpaccio with Japanese cucumber, whisky barrel-aged soy, and tea leaf salad. His red rice crusted Branzino is served with preserved lemon, caper leaf salad, and fregola caponata. A signature 40-ounce Tomahawk Bone-In Rib-Eye Steak is ideal for sharing and is served with seared mushrooms and a creamy Brandy sauce. Save room for the selection of Humphry Slocombe ice creams. This is destination dining, with the reward of a mere elevator ride to overnight indulgence. In the morning, wander back to the lobby to Coffee Manufactory for an iced mocha and a Firebrand Artisan Breads pastry item. If in the mood for a full-blown breakfast, step across the shared Nexus breezeway to the AC Hotel for a bountiful buffet.
Ideal as a solo, couples, or family retreat, TETRA and its varied amenities deliver everything desired for an indulgent and inclusive local getaway.
