The Park Bistro & Bar at Lafayette Park Hotel & Spa Reveals a New Look

Sep 21, 2024 09:18AM ● By Fran Endicott Miller

The Park Bistro & Bar at Lafayette Park Hotel has long served as a beloved spot for both locals and hotel guests. A cozy, communal vibe and inviting atmosphere make the dining room, the clubby bar, and the patio ideal destinations for casual gatherings and special occasions. A recent refresh provides a great reason to revisit the East Bay hotel icon.

Imagined by Superette Studio, a Providence, a Rhode Island-based interior design studio, the redesign and rebrand were inspired by European parks and promenades. Rich verdant greens, natural textures, and botanical patterns are inspired by the property's flower beds, tree-lined paths, and water features.

The dining areas vary from the Bistro where the vibe is a bit more formal with white table cloths and tartan plaid chairs to a hunting lodge-themed bar and place to gather around a big fireplace with hotel's famous burgers. Outdoor dining is hosted on the all-weather enclosed patio. French bistro chairs and a vine trellised wall serve to capture the European essence that inspired the overall design.

Within each space, Executive Chef Rodrigo Alvarez serves delicious, seasonal, farm-to-fork cuisine with a focus on artisanal meats, locally sourced produce, and sustainable seafood. A California native with more than 20 years of culinary experience, Alvarez menus change by season. Standouts include the Westholmes Australian Wagyu Long-Bone Ribeye and the whole-roasted fresh catch of the day.

To experience the full breadth of Lafayette Park Hotel’s hospitality, book a room. Reminiscent of a French chateau, the hotel features elegant communal spaces and captivating courtyards. Guest rooms come in a variety of layouts, but all are spacious and well-appointed. Beds are plush, as are the robes and slippers found in each closet.

Perhaps the hotel’s best kept secret is its pool and spa. Surrounded by gardens and greenery on the hotel’s third floor, this small Eden is a tranquil space to relax. Book a massage or facial, then enjoy an al fresco lunch poolside, followed by a lounge chair nap and hot tub soak.
