Harmonia Rosales: In Conversation with “ΩΑ” Visual Artist
Join visual artist Harmonia Rosales in conversation with art historian Sophia Q. McCabe on May 2 at 1:30 p.m. This event is free and open to all.
This conversation will spotlight the work of Harmonia Rosales, whose primary artistic concern focuses on Black female empowerment through a diasporic lens. Her paintings seamlessly entwine the oral narratives and deities of the West African Yorùbá religion, Greco-Roman mythology, and Christianity with the artistic techniques of the Renaissance masters. For Rosales, reimagining hegemonic narratives preserves the memory of her ancestral lineage, champions resilience, and questions European notions of beauty. Her work is currently on view in the exhibition “ΩΑ” (“Omega Alpha”) at Saint Mary’s College Museum of Art (SMCMoA).
