During the December 6 Walnut Creek City Council Meeting, Rich Carlston was sworn in as the Mayor of Walnut Creek. Carlston served on the Walnut Creek Chamber Board of Directors for eleven years; including one year as the Chairman of the Board. He is also a graduate of the Leadership Contra Costa. Council member Justin Wedel was sworn in as Mayor Pro Tem. Wedel was elected to the Walnut Creek City Council in November 2012. He is also a Leadership Contra Costa graduate, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Alumni Association.
Other members of the 2017 WC City Council include Cindy Silva, Loella Haskew and Kevin Wilk. Bob Simmons was not reelected to the council, but can be found on hikes in the open space.
