Broadway Plaza Leads Million Meals Challenge

An alarming 1 in 9 people who live in Contra Costa and Solano counties turn to the Food Bank for emergency and supplemental food. Started in 1975, the Food Bank distributes donated and purchased perishable and nonperishable food items to people in need and makes food available for other nonprofit organizations serving seniors, families, and children.

To make this happen, the Food Bank relies on more than 1,000 volunteers a month, over 80 staff members, a large fleet of trucks, and two facilities totaling 70,000 square feet to procure and distribute food and monetary donations. For every dollar donated to the Food Bank, the organization can provide enough food for two meals to people in need. Since COVID-19 hit in March, distribution sites have experienced a 30-50% increase in the number of people who need food.

Now through October 31, Broadway Plaza is collecting monetary donations to provide meals to the vulnerable members of our community. Donating is easy, follow this link to join the virtual food drive.
