When John Muir Memorial Hospital broke ground in the Ygnacio Valley sixty years ago, it marked a pivotal moment in Walnut Creek’s history and future as a regional leader in medical care. Since opening in 1965, John Muir Medical Center has grown from a 150-bed private to a 554-bed acute care facility and trauma center, recognized as one of the region’s premier health care providers. Today, John Muir Health includes a network of more than 1,000 primary care and specialty physicians and more than 6,000 employees.

Expanding on its existing partnership, UCSF and John Muir Health recently broke ground on a new 155,000-square-foot outpatient Cancer Center on La Casa Via in Walnut Creek. When complete in 2024, it will offer patients a wide range of radiation and infusion services, as well as access to clinical trials, genetic counseling, and cancer nutrition.

In a statement, UCSF Chief Strategy Officer Shelby Decosta said, “We are pleased to partner with John Muir Health, once again, to bring the most advanced cancer services to the East Bay community. Patients will have access to the personalized and supportive cancer care services based on the latest developments in cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.” For more information go to ucsfjmhcancer.com.
