The “Dry Cannuary” by Velvet combines the classic cocktail components of citrus, simple syrup, and bitters with a small dose of cannabis tincture, resulting in a crushable quaff that'll have you rethinking going back to the bottle in February.

Use the recipe below as a starting point, then experiment with different types of citrus or sweeteners—we love maple syrup for added depth of flavor—and adjust the amount of tincture based on your preference. Remember: start low and go slow: 5mg of tincture is roughly the equivalent of a low-dose edible.

VELVET'S DRY CANNUARY

(Makes one 5mg cocktail)

Juice of 1 lime, lemon, orange or grapefruit

1 teaspoon HVY cannabis tincture

1 tablespoon simple syrup

2-3 dashes orange bitters

Topo Chico sparkling mineral water

Ice

Combine juice of one lime (or citrus of choice), cannabis tincture, simple syrup, and 2-3 dashes of bitters in a tall glass. Stir. Fill glass with ice and top with Topo Chico (or other sparkling water.) Garnish with citrus and a sprig of mint. Enjoy!
