Prepare to be swept away by vibrant rhythms and electrifying dance moves. Center Rep presents the Tony award-winning musical "In the Heights" by Lin-Manuel Miranda—a jubilant homage to Latin culture and community—gracing the Lesher Center stage May 30 to June 24. With a spirited score blending hip-hop, salsa, merengue, and soul, this show promises to have you dancing in your seat.

While Lin-Manuel Miranda skyrocketed to fame in the 2010s with his hip-hop sensation "Hamilton," it was "In the Heights" that first showcased his exceptional talent. Co-produced with Quiara Alegría Hudes, the musical delves into the stories of a dynamic community in New York's Washington Heights neighborhood, as they navigate the pursuit of the American dream amidst societal pressures and cherished traditions.

We were granted an exclusive sneak peek into cast rehearsals, expertly guided by the direction of Nicholas C. Avila, with musical prowess from Nick Perez and captivating choreography by Sara Templeton. Avila shared his insights with the cast noting, "It's fascinating when a play achieves iconic status. This production is a remarkable opportunity to illuminate the interconnected tales of a community that is beautifully and haphazardly intertwined."

"In the Heights" takes the stage as the opening act of Fiesta Cultural, a month-long celebration honoring the vibrant Latin American community at the Lesher Center. To secure your seats, visit lesherartscenter.org.
