OUTSIDE LANDS

Whether you’re a boomer or a zoomer, a hip hop, rock n roll, or techno fan, the A-list artist lineup at San Francisco’s Outside Lands Music Festival has you covered: Kendrick Lamar, Zedd, Janelle Monáe, Interpol, Foo Fighters, Maggie Rogers, Odesza, Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Yachty, and so many more.


 

Add to the music a food lineup bigger and better than ever before. This year Outside Lands brings the cuisine of 95 diverse Bay Area eateries to festival foodies. Celebrating 15 years, San Francisco’s epic music fest takes place August 11-13 in Golden Gate Park.



 

125th ANNIVERSARY FERRY BUILDING

San Francisco’s iconic landmark celebrated its 125th birthday on July 13, but the party continues until August 17 with  food festivals, caviar tastings, and live music. First built in 1896, the Ferry Building's clock tower welcomed visitors to San Francisco. Today, it remains a top tourist attraction, and foodie haven for locals packed with artisan purveyors and restaurants.

DIANNE REEVES

Five-time Grammy winner Dianne Reeves brings her breathtaking R&B jazz style to the Lesher Center on July 28.


 

TINA – THE TINA TURNER MUSICAL

Set to the pulse-pounding soundtrack of her beloved hits, Tina– The Tina Turner Musical, tells the uplifting story of  a woman who broke barriers and became the Queen of Rock n’ Roll. August 1-27, Golden Gate Theatre, SF. 

 

 

ARTS AROUND AUGUST

Get ready to groove on Cypress Street, taste delicious bites at local restaurants, catch an opera in the park, dance on Broadway Plaza Street, and discover a kaleidoscope of color on a public art tour, when Walnut Creek’s Arts Around August returns for a lively month-long celebration of the performing, visual, and culinary arts. 

WALNUT CREEK FIRST WEDNESDAY

Kicking off Arts Around August, the community's favorite street fest is back with live music, artisan vendors, delectable food, kid zone, and endless summer fun. August 2, 5:30-9:00pm. 


 

OPERA IN THE PARK

Spend a summer Sunday afternoon in Civic Park with Festival Opera. Bring a picnic to this fun, casual event, and revel in the sounds of grand opera. August 6, 4pm, Civic Park. 


 

DISNEY CATS & DOGS

All the way from Japan, “Disney Cats & Dogs” is making its U.S. debut at San Francisco’s Walt Disney Family Museum. From the mischievous cat in Cinderella to main characters like Bambi, the show explores the traits that make Disney animals so widely adored. Through January 14.

STERN GROVE FESTIVAL

The 86th season of San Francisco’s popular free concert series includes notable acts like Patti Smith and The Flamingo Lips. Sunday afternoon concerts continue through August 20. 

 

 

SIGHT UNSEEN

Bedford Gallery’s compelling exhibit, Sight Unseen, showcases the work of 13 accomplished international photographers, who are either completely blind or legally blind, pushing the envelope on what is possible through art. Through September 17, Walnut Creek.  


 

ALLADIN

From the producer of The Lion King comes the timeless story of Disney’s Aladdin, a new production filled with unforgettable beauty, magic, comedy, and breathtaking spectacle. Directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon), this new musical features your favorite songs from the film. August 2-13, Orpheum Theatre, SF.

NEWSMAKERS: CLAIRE MCCASKILL AND KELLY AYOTTE

The Lesher Foundation’s acclaimed speaker series returns with two political super stars: Claire McCaskill, a former prosecutor, U.S. Senator, and media pundit, and Kelly Ayotte, a former U.S. Senator and advocate for military readiness. August 12, Walnut Creek.
