Screening of An Amazing Documentary
The Mask You Live In
What is driving the doubling of youth suicide in the last 10 years? What is driving the mass shootings in our country?
The Mask You Live In has some of the answers. It is a touching, heart-breaking and ultimately inspiring look at how boys and young men struggle to stay true to themselves while negotiating America’s narrow definition of masculinity.
This is not a "snowflake" take on coddling youth. It's an indepth look at what happens when boys and young men must act in prescribed ways to be considered manly enough.
Written, produced and directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the film premiered at Sundance Film Festival in 2015. This screening is free (donations gratefully accepted).
Teens 13 and older are encouraged to come to the screening. Coaches, educators, and those who work with youth- and men-based organizations are also highly encouraged to come.
