Teneral Cellars: A Passionate Fusion of Wine & Purpose

After a successful career with the Special Olympics followed by a decade in the wine industry, Walnut Creek’s Jill Osur is fulfilling a life-long calling and long-held dream: to dedicate her time, talent, and resources to women and wine. From her Fair Play vineyards in El Dorado County during the COVID-19 pandemic, Osur launched Teneral Cellars, a digital wine company dedicated to women who sip, create, and act with purpose. Her goal is to build a business that not only delivers flavorful, sustainably farmed wines but also changes what a wine brand “can” do. “We’re all about elevating women and doing it through wine,” she says.

“If you look at the wine industry, women only make up 10% of winemakers, but 67% of the consumers. We’re building a company that will disrupt the industry while also elevating a customer’s wine experience.” Her team of industry veterans are putting change into action by elevating women into leadership positions and donating 10% of profits to organizations focused on women through community action, justice, climate, and social change. “Our goal is not just to support women in wine, but support all women through wine,” says Osur.

Teneral's wines include a crisp 2017 Chardonnay, $28, 2019 Grenache Rose, $28, and 2017 “Untamed” Red Blend, $33. In keeping with their focus on social justice, this month the winery released an RBG series honoring the legacy of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
