Walnut Creek Celebrates the Arts in August

Hello Walnut Creek! Are you ready for Arts Around August? Now in its third year, the city’s annual celebration of the visual, culinary, and performing arts, features live concerts, restaurant tasting tours, opera in the park, a vibrant street fest, family day at the Lesher Center, and so much more.


 

FIRST WEDNESDAY

Walnut Creek Downtown's popular First Wednesday street fest returns August 2 with live music, craft beer, wine, food, and artisan vendors. Don't miss this free, fun, family-friendly event from 5:30-9:00pm on Cypress between Broadway and Locust streets.


 

CONCERTS AT BROADWAY PLAZA

Dance to the sounds of Tainted Love, Dog N Butterfly, Fleetwood Mask & Mustache Harbor,  Thursdays at 7pm from August 3-24. Remember to bring a chair and comfortable shoes to groove under the stars at these free concerts.


 

MOVEABLE FEAST: SAVOR THE CITY

Thursdays in August take a culinary journey on a Moveable Feast. Explore some of the downtown's top eateries, meet local chefs, and sample delicious bites & beverages. In between restaurants, check out public art installations with a Bedford Gallery docent. $140pp, August 9-30, tickets available at walnutcreekdowntown.com


 

OPERA IN THE PARK

Spend Sunday, August 6 in Civic Park with Festival Opera. Bring a picnic to this fun, casual event that starts at 4pm and revel in the sounds of grand opera.

 

  

FAMILY MURAL ART WALK

On August 19, join a public art walking tour showcasing Walnut Creek's vibrant collection of murals. The one-hour tour, kicking off at 10am from Rudney Plaza, is designed for families and led by a Bedford Gallery docent. Dress comfortably for this under-one-mile walk.

FAMILY ART DAY AT THE LESHER CENTER

Make a day of it on August 20 at the Lesher Center's Family Art Day from 9:30am-2:30pm. This art-filled day includes performances by One Heart Music and music with Mr. George. $10/pp, grab your tickets at lesherartscenter.org.
