A Gourmet Finish to Your Holiday Meal: Jack & Remi Ice Cream

Jack & Remi ice cream, created by pastry chef Serena Chow Fisher, is not your typical frozen treat. With flavors like Orange Bay Leaf, Roasted Toasted Marshmallow, and Chamomile Greek Yogurt (each specially crafted to compliment favorite holiday pies) Jack & Remi is the perfect denouement to your holiday meal. 

Fisher, known along with her husband David Fisher for beloved Michelin starred Bernal Heights restaurant Marlena, partnered with Hi Neighbor Hospitality Group in launching Jack & Remi. The brand—guided by her creativity and enduring love of ice cream—is her brainchild, though she appreciates the collaborative support from her husband, and from Hi Neighbor’s culinary team, led by Executive Chef Jason Halverson. “Combining our complementary skill sets from the pastry and savory kitchens also opens up a world of possibilities for experimentation and refinement,” said Serena. “We take our cooking seriously, but not ourselves; ice cream is our opportunity to play, to share, and to invite new memories over something creamy, crunchy and delicious We use all the tricks in our tool kit to create memorable flavors you’ll want to go back for again.” 

With Jack & Remi, Serena Chow Fisher seeks to recapture the joy of ice cream, as enjoyed in her youth.

Serena, who named the brand after her adored dogs, found inspiration in the early childhood pleasure she experienced annually when presented with a Baskin-Robbins mint chocolate chip ice cream cake for her birthday. Her goal with Jack & Remi is to bridge precision and refinement with a deep love for the joy and simplicity of eating ice cream as a kid.

Jack & Remi ice creams reflect Serena's culinary approach, one that is marked by unique interpretations of classic desserts and the deft blending of multiple textures and flavors. A recipient Esquire Magazine’s “Pastry Chef of the Year” award, Serena draws on her culinary know-how in creating the chef-driven brand. Jack & Remi’s unique flavor combinations and made-from-scratch mix-ins incorporate California’s vast selection of fresh produce and other quality ingredients. 

 

Current Jack & Remi seasonal flavors include:

Orange Bay Leaf to be paired with apple pie: vanilla custard ice cream steeped with bay leaf and orange zest 

Roasted Toasted Marshmallow to be paired with pumpkin pie: toasted marshmallow ice cream, marshmallows and huckleberry swirl 

Chamomile Greek Yogurt to be paired with berry pie: Greek yogurt sorbet infused with chamomile tea

Coffee Cocoa Nib to be paired with pecan pie: cold brew coffee and Valrhona chocolate ice cream with toasted cocoa nibs

Jack & Remi signature flavors available throughout the year include: 

Sourdough Toast and Jam: Backhaus sourdough ice cream, organic raspberry jam, and Maldon salt 

Shiso Mint Chip: Shiso-mint ice cream, chocolate flecks, and fudge swirl 

Strawberry Szn: Strawberry ice cream, macerated strawberries, and white chocolate cookie crumble 

4XChocolate: Valrhona chocolate ice cream, devil’s food cake, fudge ripple, and dark chocolate curls 

Available for purchase at all Hi Neighbor restaurants in San Francisco (The MadrigalTrestleThe Vault Steakhouse, and The Vault Garden), as well as at Luke’s Local and Three Babes Bakeshop, Jack & Remi can also be home delivered via Good Eggs, which sells the pints across the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles.
