Diablo Symphony to Perform Holst’s The Planets and Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with guest artists WomenSing and Christopher Richardson, winner of DSO’s Yen Liang Young Artists Competition.
The Diablo Symphony Orchestra and local choral group WomenSing take our imaginations into the beyond with Gustav Holst’s The Planets at Walnut Creek’s Lesher Center for the Arts on Sunday February 24, 2:00 pm. Also featured will be Peter Tchaikovsky’s popular and powerful Piano Concert No. 1 in B Flat Minor. Ticket prices are $35 for adults and $10 for Youth 13-17; children 12 and under are free but require a ticket. Before performing the magical chorus in The Planet’s final movement “Neptune, the Mystic”, WomenSing, known for its vibrant and beautifully blended sound, will open the concert with a surprise a capella choral work. The orchestra will then join forces with Christopher Richardson for Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1, famed particularly for the pounding piano chords that launch its 1st movement.
