Prost! Hoist a Pint and Holler Cheers

Oct 08, 2021 09:26AM ● By Harper Klein

Known for their menu of tasty German favorites, Bierhaus is kicking off the fall season with curated Oktoberfest boxes filled with pretzels, brats, cabbage, and kraut, or essentially everything you need for an at home celebration. Order one designed for two ($39.99) or feed four ($69.99).

Dust off the dirndls and don your lederhosen! Walnut Creek Historical Society is hosting an Oktoberfest fundraiser at Shadelands Ranch Museum complete with German cuisine, Bavarian beers, live music, and a costume contest. October 17, tickets $80/per person.

Spend a Sunday Funday at Pleasant Hill’s Pub in the Park—an outdoor craft brew fest featuring local suds from Epidemic Ales, Gilman, Canyon Club, Five Suns, East Brother, Ghost Town, Del Cielo, and others. October 17, tickets $60/per person.

You’ll find 19 local brews on tap at Danville Brewing Company plus a special German-style Oktoberspab Festbier and Bavarian Hartzenweizen. During happy hour $5 house beers pair well with fresh pretzel bites and crispy Brussel sprouts.

Hoist a pint of Calicraft’s DH Oktoberfest Lager on the grassy front yard at its Shadelands tasting room. Food trucks are a regular fixture in the parking lot, although many people tote a picnic basket to the lively weekend gatherings here.

Octoberhess is on tap at Mike Hess Brewing Company in The Orchards. Sip it on the outdoor deck where live music is performed on Saturdays with a takeout order of tacos or burgers from a nearby business.

Around the corner from Todos Santos Plaza, Side Gate Brewery & Beer Garden recently opened in Concord with craft lagers, IPAs, and seasonal brews on tap. On weekends look for food truck pop-ups.

Lafayette’s new Headlands Brewing Company is pouring a lightly-hopped Märzen lager for Oktoberfest in their dog-friendly beer garden.  And Walnut Creek’s Rotator Taproom is joining forces with Humble Sea Taste Güd 2021 to add a Bavarian tap to its Pine Street offerings. Don't miss the Hangry Cook and Cousins Maine Lobster food popups here on October 9.
